This Isn’t Your Typical ABA Job

If your idea of ABA is sitting at a table running flashcards for an entire session, The Progress Lab is going to feel different.

We believe meaningful skills should be taught where life actually happens. Our team uses Natural Environment Teaching, community involvement, movement, play, and social experiences to help neurodivergent clients build skills they can use in their everyday lives.

Depending on the client, your session might include:

  • Playing basketball or going for a walk
  • Practicing ordering at a restaurant
  • Completing a workout or wellness activity
  • Playing games that build communication and flexibility
  • Visiting a store and practicing money or shopping skills
  • Participating in a structured social-skills activity
  • Exploring hobbies and age-appropriate leisure activities
  • Practicing self-advocacy, independence, and real-world problem-solving

The activities are fun, but they are also intentional, individualized, and clinically meaningful.

Who We Serve

The Progress Lab primarily supports school-aged clients, middle schoolers, and teens. We focus on communication, social skills, self-advocacy, emotional regulation, independence, daily living, and meaningful community participation.

Our services are relationship-based, assent-centered, and respectful of neurodivergent people. We emphasize prevention, proactive support, and de-escalation rather than physical-management procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide individualized ABA services in clients’ homes and community settings
  • Implement treatment programs designed and supervised by a BCBA
  • Use Natural Environment Teaching to make learning functional and engaging
  • Plan age-appropriate activities based on each client’s interests and goals
  • Support communication, social interaction, independence, and self-advocacy
  • Collect accurate data and complete timely session documentation
  • Follow behavior-support and safety procedures
  • Collaborate closely with the supervising BCBA
  • Respect client assent, dignity, preferences, and individual differences
  • Participate in ongoing training, feedback, and professional development

This role involves more than simply supervising a client or filling session time. We are looking for technicians who want to engage, move, connect, teach, and grow.

You May Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Genuinely enjoy working with neurodivergent children and teens
  • Are energetic, creative, and comfortable being active during sessions
  • Can make learning fun while still following a clinical plan
  • Are willing to play games, participate in community activities, and explore clients’ interests
  • Believe clients should be treated with dignity and included in decisions affecting them
  • Are dependable, professional, and receptive to feedback
  • Want to develop a meaningful career, not simply pick up another job
  • Can work independently in community and home settings while maintaining communication with your supervisor
  • Are interested in growing with a smaller, mission-driven ABA company

Health and Wellness Experience Is a Bonus

We especially encourage applicants with experience or education in personal training, group fitness, sports coaching, health and wellness, physical or recreational activity programs, kinesiology, exercise science, recreation, community programming, physical therapy or occupational therapy support, special education, psychology, social services, direct support, or behavioral health.

ABA experience is valued, but we are also open to training the right person whose values, reliability, and energy match our approach.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance
  • Ability to travel to client homes and community locations
  • Ability to pass required background and employment screenings
  • Comfortable participating in active, community-based sessions, with reasonable accommodations available
  • Willing to obtain and maintain applicable certifications
  • Afternoon or early-evening availability is strongly preferred

An active RBT or ABAT credential is preferred but not required. Selected applicants who are not currently credentialed must complete required training, competency, and credentialing steps before receiving an independent client assignment under BCBA supervision.

Training and Advancement

You will receive direct training, ongoing feedback, and clinical support from a BCBA. We want to invest in people who are passionate about the field and interested in building something meaningful with us.

What We Offer

  • Starting pay of $25 per hour
  • W-2 employment
  • Paid drive time between assigned work locations
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Partial compensation for qualifying client cancellations
  • Company-issued iPad
  • BCBA-led training and ongoing clinical support
  • Professional mentorship and advancement opportunities
  • A small, collaborative team
  • Community-based and interest-driven sessions
  • No noncompete agreement

Whole-Person Wellness Benefits

After 30 days of employment, eligible employees receive access to:

  • A $40 monthly wellness stipend to help offset gym memberships, fitness classes, wellness apps, therapy expenses, and other personal wellness needs
  • Complimentary continued access to the FitwHarm Employee Wellness Library
  • Exclusive friends-and-family savings on eligible self-guided FitwHarm wellness memberships

All wellness benefits are optional and private. Participation—or the decision not to participate—will never affect an employee’s hours, supervision, performance evaluation, or opportunities for advancement.
